A Musical Release
The WH500 is another release from the Chinese purveyors of audio enjoyment Edifier. But is this another sharp investment, or does the whole thing fall a bit flat?
What’s In The Box?
Firstly the box for the Edifier WH500 is extremely well presented and, although basic, is still very nice and gives some basic details on the headset. Inside the box, you find the WH500 headset along with a USB-C charge cable and some small booklets detailing the aftercare support, directions for use and other information. There isn’t a lot in the box, but you don’t NEED a lot to get these working.
Simplistic Elegance
The WH500 is a great-looking set of headphones, and straight out of the box, they give you the impression of quality. Again, they look quite simplistic, but with simplicity comes a certain charm. The WH500 is a little smaller than some other popular headphones but with that comes less weight on the head.
The Loud-down
The WH500 has relatively intuitive controls that are all explained in one of the little booklets that come in the box. For the most part, the controls speak for themselves, and there is a satisfying click when you press them. The WH500 speakers are also fantastic, with a great bass sound and very clear higher notes bringing a brilliant mix of sounds for all genres. The charge time is also very fast, especially for the amount of playtime you get from them. Pairing was straightforward, and the 10m range on the Bluetooth is more than adequate. The headphones also fold much like a lot of other, more premium headphones. Additionally, the built-in microphone is very clear and picks up your voice with no problems at all.
What’s The Damage?
The WH500 is set to be about the £45 mark, which in my opinion, is an absolute steal for the quality you are getting.
The Bass Line
The Edifier WH500 Wireless Headphones would be a brilliant set to listen to music anywhere, and the price tag is exceptional when you consider the quality you are getting. They are extremely comfortable to wear for hours on end, and the claimed battery life holds up well. My only real issue is how short the supplied charge cable is, which can be quite inconvenient when charging as you can’t just put them out of the way.
