Simple and Stylish
The VX3258-2KC-mhd is a good looking monitor. The bezel is almost non-existent. It looks very smart on my desk alongside my Xbox One X. The stand is minimalist and fits the overall design of the monitor. The standout feature, however, is the curved panel. You can tilt the monitor to find the perfect angle, unfortunately, though, you can’t move it up and down.
Connections
The VX3258-2KC-mhd offers 2 DisplayPorts and 2 HDMI 2.0 inputs. There is also a 3.5mm audio out jack on the back of the monitor which allows you to plug your favourite gaming headset.
No remote
One frustration I had with the monitor was the lack of remote control. This, of course, is a trade-off that you make when using a gaming monitor, instead of a TV. Fortunately, after a couple of days, I had learnt to use the OSD and changing the volume, and other quick settings became less of a chore.
Picture quality
I’ve recently got back into Red Dead Redemption 2 in a big way, and the world that Rockstar has created looks stunning on the VX3258-2KC-mhd gaming monitor.
My setup was 1440p at 60 Hz using variable refresh rates and AMD Freesync enabled. I didn’t notice any lag or tearing when playing fast-paced multiplayer games like Call of Duty Modern Warefare.
Users will be glad to know that there are plenty of settings that you can change, allowing you to set the monitor up as you wish. A great feature is that there are a number of useful presets to choose from. The preset that I used the most was the Gaming, FPS preset.
So so sound
There are 2 x 2.5-watt integrated speakers on the VX3258-2KC-mhd. These do a good enough job. However, when watching films or playing games, I found that you had to turn the volume up to around 75 out of 100 to make it loud enough.
A little bugbear I had when using the monitor, and I think this is because it is a gaming monitor and not a TV, was when I used a gaming headset. Typically, when a headset is switched on, the audio automatically switches to the headset. Unfortunately, this didn’t happen. So if I wanted to listen to a game on my headset, I had to turn the sound off on the monitor manually.
The wrap-up
If you’re looking for your first gaming monitor, the ViewSonic VX3258 might be for you. Thanks to the curved screen, it provides an immersive gaming screen. When gaming and watching tv, you get crisp and vibrant images. Plus there are lots of settings to customise your experience.
In conclusion, the ViewSonic VX3258 is a good gaming monitor. Gaming on it with the Xbox One X was a pleasure. It’s easy to set up, and games look amazing on it. Although it must be said that I think that PC gamers would get more out of it.

I’ve not had (or anyone I know actually!) a curved monitor before and the thought of it sounds good but also really weird! it was interesting to read your thoughts as a console player too!
