Cybarian: The Time Travelling Warrior Review

Reading Time: 4 minutes Just from looking at the artwork for Cybarian, you can tell it took great inspiration from the classic 80s arcade games, which is what intrigued me the most. It’s different from many of the modern games that come out these days with their focus on realistic graphics and vast worlds, and I was looking forward to a fun, 2D side scroller with a taste of nostalgia. What I wasn’t expecting was how challenging this game could be, based heavily on perfecting your timing.

Rolling Sky Review

Reading Time: 3 minutes The mobile hit Rolling Sky rolls on over to the Nintendo Switch, and in it, the spherical sensation provides a unique taste to the usual platforming experience, testing the player’s reaction times, reflexes and speed with fun challenges accompanied by gratifying background music. The player controls a ball that rolls automatically and must traverse through many obstacles like spikes and lasers that can only be avoided by moving with perfect timing to the rhythm.

Apex Construct Review

Reading Time: 6 minutes The first time I saw the promotional materials for Apex Construct, I was reminded of the PlayStation 4 exclusive, Horizon: Zero Dawn. With the trailer emphasising the bow & arrow weapon and the mechanical animals that succumb to it, that impression was apt but false. After playing it for a bit, I came to realise that Apex Construct was far less like the game mentioned above and more in-line with games like System Shock 2 and Bioshock, though only superficially.

We. The Revolution Review

Reading Time: 7 minutes We. The Revolution is a unique journey told through the eyes of a judge during the French Revolution. Every action and decision affects the people around you, including your friends and family. Interrogate and pass sentences on the guilty or free the innocent. Find clues, cross exam the witnesses to find the truth. Remember, every action you take affects your story and the outcome of future decisions. Will you be a revolutionary judge, or will you condemn all you know to suffer indefinitely? That choice is up to you.

Dark Devotion Review

Reading Time: 6 minutes In Dark Devotion, you play as a Templar knight, who has decided to delve into the labyrinth of tunnels and dungeons to help rid the world of an unspeakable evil. Your journey begins as you start the prologue, where a rather handy tutorial helps the player know the key features of the game yet firmly establishes that it will not ‘hold your hand’ as you make your way through the story. Hacking my way through some rather mindless enemies, I felt that this would be a game that has not quite lived up to its Dark Souls reputation.
