Predator XB3 Gaming Monitor Review

Reading Time: 4 minutes

I recently had the privilege of reviewing a Predator gaming PC. Along with that, I was afforded the chance to test out and review the Predator XB3 Gaming Monitor.

As someone who has always had hand-me-down monitors and things, upgrading to this item was quite the shock to my system. What were my thoughts? Keep reading this Rapid Review to find out.

How Do You Start Reviewing a Monitor?

I felt a little out of my depth with this review. I really didn’t know how I was going to approach it, but now, having sat and pondered for a while, I am going to break it down into three different sections. More on those in a bit, but first, let’s get the basics out of the way.

Because I was lucky enough to have a great PC running behind things, I was able to push the monitor settings to their maximum levels. Yes, as I will explain, I used the monitor for a range of tasks, but it was really the gaming element that I, and you the reader, are surely most interested in.

A Sleek Attractive Design

A good looking monitor.

When all is said and done, a monitor is a rectangle. It can be hard to make such a simple shape aesthetically pleasing, yet there was something about this screen that was just that. I loved the wide three-pronged base. Not only was it stylish and angular in a way that matched the predator logo, but it also gave the monitor an unshakable base. As someone who has battled with a wobbly monitor for years, having a stable screen was in itself a life changing moment.

Working From Home

The Predator XB3 Gaming Monitor (and the Predator PC) arrived just as my entire work from home lifestyle changed. I was leaving the office work and branching out on my own. Writing all day long, I found this monitor to be a God’s send. It was larger than what I was used to and the screen resolution made my general working day that much easier.

Headaches are a common occurrence for me, especially when wearing my glasses. Less so with contacts, however, I digress. I found that the Predator XB3 Gaming Monitor had a much gentler light and the resolution was much gentler on my eyes. The 27 inches of space my eyes had to roam was also a welcome change.

It might be wishful thinking, but I found myself being more productive as a result because I never felt as though I was straining to read what was in front of me.

Embracing the Power of Netflix

Obviously I watched Netflix from the front.

I am not normally the biggest of Netflix watchers. It’s not through lack of desire, but rather, lack of time for such things. However, given that I had a monitor to review, I decided it was a great… excuse, to watch some TV during the day.

I chose The Dark Crystal. I’d wanted to watch it for a while, so I figured it would kill two birds with one stone.

Now, it’s hard to discern where the review for a monitor and the underlying PC end and begin. Obviously, a high spec PC is going to run better than an older machine, especially the old company laptop I still had at the time.

What I do know is that the picture quality was astounding. The sharpness and the power of the colours were instantly apparent. I did watch one episode on my regular laptop just for comparison’s sake and the quality difference was easy to see.

Exploring Chernobyl the Wrong Way

Of course, I also put the monitor to work on a game. As I mentioned during the PC review, I chose Chernobylite as my game. It was one I had been watching since it was announced and had been all too eager to play.

Much as with the Dark Crystal, I was blown away by the image resolution. The sharpness of everything and the intensity of the colours certainly helped make the game feel more immersive. It showed me just how much of a difference a good quality monitor makes.

Never did the game struggle to perform on this screen. There was no lag either in input or visual, and despite some pretty hefty action sequences and high movement speed through pretty dense environment, the monitor stood up to the test perfectly.

A Gaming Monitor That Delivers

I’ve never owned a gaming monitor, but it stands to reason that they are primed for gaming use. Having spent a few weeks with the Predator XB3 Gaming Monitor I can certainly attest to its gaming fortitude.

I also spent a fair bit of time playing Dead by Daylight, and again, both the PC and the monitor coped with everything with the greatest of ease. I was blown away by this monitor and when my home office is finally finished, it is certainly the number one monitor on my list.
