As a gamer, one of the most significant decisions you will make is the which controller you should purchase. First party? Third Party? I’ve had the pleasure of using the Enhanced Wireless Controller for Nintendo Switch from PowerA, for the past month. Read on for my Rapid Review of this great controller.

Design and Features

This controller looks the business. I especially like the metallic look of the D-Pad. The black and red design reminded me subtly of Super Mario.

The controller is surprisingly light in hand, and all buttons were easily accessible and responsive. Being an Officially Licensed Product ensures that the layout of the controller is very familiar to owners of the Official Pro Controller. One thing I did find was that the buttons felt a little “plasticky”. Fortunately, this didn’t negatively impact my experience of using the controller.

I was able to pair the controller to my Switch with no issues and get gaming straight away. The wireless connection never failed and I was able to play from any place in my room.

A feature that I was impressed with was the button mapping. For some games, it made the action more comfortable being able to map certain buttons. Mapping buttons were straightforward to do, hold down the program button, press the button you want to reassign, and an LED indicator will flash to confirm the mapping.

Conclusion

The PowerA Enhanced Wireless Controller for Nintendo Switch is a super addition to your Nintendo Switch. It’s almost half of the price of the Official Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. You’re also getting some extra features, namely the programmable buttons. I will concede that it doesn’t feel as premium as the Official Pro Controller. However, don’t let that put you off. I highly recommend this controller.
