Plantronics RIG 300HX Gaming Headset

Reading Time: 3 minutes

If you follow me on Twitter and have read my reviews, you will know that I am a fan of the Plantronics RIG range of gaming headsets. One thing I’ve learnt is that you can be sure of three things; 1) Solid build 2) Comfort and 3) They sound great. Read on to find out if this entry-level headset continues the trend.

RIG 300HX Features

  • Comfort and stability
  • SoundGuard acoustic safety technology
  • 40 mm performance drivers
  • Modular frame
  • Inline controls
The modular frame allows you to move the earcups to find your perfect fit.

Design

The 300HX is a no-frills, lightweight gaming headset. This particular model featured Xbox green leads and you can also purchase PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch versions of the headset. Personally, I like the modular look of the Plantronics RIG headset range.

Comfort

The RIG 300HX are very comfortable, and this is thanks to the very lightweight frame. The padded earcups are cushioning, and the fact that they are vented ensures that you keep cool during long gaming sessions.

Sound

Thanks to the 40 mm performance drivers, the RIG 300HX provides clear, crisp sound. Coupled with Windows Sonic and or Dolby Atmos, this headset delivers an immersive audio experience.

The RIG 300HX incorporates the SoundGuard acoustic safety technology which eliminates unexpected volume spikes, protecting your hearing. This is a great feature that will give parents the confidence that using the headset won’t damage children’s ears.

Concerning the microphone, I used the headset to chat with my friends in a group chat, and there were no issues at all.

Features

The RIG 300HX features inline controls which give you the convenience of being able to adjust the volume without needing to go into any system setting. You can also myte the mic at the flick of a switch.

Conclusion

If you’re in the market for a comfortable, great sounding headset on a budget, or looking for a first gaming headset for a younger member of the family, look no further than the Plantronics RIG 300HX Gaming Headset. It retails between £25-£34 so you can’t go wrong.
