Souls-Like Storage?
Lies of P was a massive surprise to me. It was not only one of my favourite games from last year but also one of the best non-souls Soulslikes in recent memory. Playing the role of Pinnochio, you must unravel the mysteries of a steampunk-esque world dripping with character and with dangerous enemies lurking around every dark corner. Video game aside, I was recently sent a pair of memory sticks adorned with Lies of P artwork. Here are my thoughts.
Firstly, from a design perspective, they are beautiful, both in the packaging and form factor. A clean white box opens to two depictions of Pinnochio, one with the Fulminis arm and one with the Flamberge arm, both weapons you can adorn in the game. The stark contrast between the bright white box and these grim darm images is a great design touch. The artwork on the inner boxes is to die for too.
A Stunning Presentation
Inside each box is an egg-box material of sorts, housing a 1TB SSD stick, each with artwork for the arm it represents spanning the whole stick, right up to the cap. Again, the cleanliness of the white stick with the artwork on really looks the part. It’s clean, unique and very eye-catching. Everything about this whole package, from an artwork perspective, is stunning. They brought back happy memories from when I played the game.
Size-wise, in this day and age, a 1TB stick is about right. I think I would have preferred a single 2TB stick but then that would have included less Lies of P artwork, which I think is my favourite part of the whole package. They are certainly big enough for storing files, transferring documents, doing school or college work and even attaching them to your favourite console for added storage. Which in my opinion, is what they should be used for.
No Slouching
On the speed side of things, while not being lightning fast, these sticks do perform admirably. With read and write speeds of just under 1GB/Sec they certainly don’t mess about. Yes, there are faster sticks on the market but there are a lot slower ones too. Retailing for $199.99 (although they are on sale at the moment for $119) you would think the Lies of P art is doing some of the heavy lifting. Limited to 300 copies I believe, these sticks may be more of a collector’s item rather than a tool for file storage.
Should you buy these sticks? Maybe. I believe if you are looking for extra storage then there are better options. However, if you want something different and limited, or you love Lies of P, then these may be the sticks for you. They perform well, look stunning and even come with a three-year warranty. Oh, and they also come with loads of stickers from the game. Awesome!
