Once in a while, you need to rest and play a simple pick up and play a game, and that is the type of game I am going to be talking about for this review. Cosmonauta is only a dollar, and when I first accepted this game to review, I thought it was going to be an average or below game. So was I right, or did I learn you shouldn’t trust a game by its price? Let’s find out.

If you are a person who looks for a story in a game, then this game isn’t for you. Except for the ending of it, there is no story in this game and it mainly just focuses on gameplay. The visuals of this game are very impressive for a game of this asking price, many of them use very good colour pallets, and I always know where I am, and the game also doesn’t lag. Music is, honestly, excellent. For lack of a soundtrack, I was impressed by what it offered.

Now finally the gameplay, the game advertises itself as a puzzle game, and I will be honest I never solved any types of puzzles during my time with the game. I just played it just like a regular platformer. Anyway, the game plays very great honestly. Jumps don’t work like the way you expect, but it never messed me up, and the controls are simple to use. Only thing I hated playing with is using the jet pack; it just felt like if I don’t keep a constant use of it for any longer then a second, the jet pack will not work when I hit the button immediately.

The final thing to talk about is the level design. Personally, I think that the level design is VERY good, but levels can get hard, though, and there are bumps of difficulty. The levels also change and add new things. Although there is one thing missing from this game, and that is a time trial mode, It would increase replayability and will make it worth it to come back to this game and replay levels for a speedrunning time.

Cosmonauta is a straightforward game; it doesn’t have a story, except for a small scene at the end, the gameplay is excellent, the look and the music of the game are nice but limited in some ways. Level design is fantastic though, with only one or two levels I didn’t like. Personally, for being only one dollar, it has offered more then enough for me, and I can’t recommend it enough if you are just looking for a simple pick up and play game, you can’t go wrong with this one.
