Turtle Beach Recon 70 Wired Headset Review

As I’m sure many of my readers will know, I have been lucky enough to have reviewed many gaming headsets for Rapid Reviews (You can find our other reviews here, https://rapidreviewsuk.com/category/audio/) My latest gaming headset is the Turtle Beach Recon 70 wired gaming headset. Design

The Turtle Beach Recon 70 Wired Headset looks good. The colours of the headset change depending on which console you purchase for. My headset came in the Xbox colours. Although this headset said Xbox on the box, it can be used for any console with a 3.5mm headphone connection.

For the relatively cheap price, it doesn’t look like a cheap product. The synthetic leather earcups look the part, and the fact that they’re so light makes them very comfortable, even when wearing them for a prolonged gaming session. My only gripe with the headset was that the cushioning material on the headband was a little thin.

Audio

I was impressed with the sound quality of the Recon 70. Even at the highest volume, the sound was sharp and clear. The headset also supports surround sound, which was a very welcome addition.

The earcups do a very decent job of blocking out any ambient sounds, allowing you to concentrate fully on your game. I tested out the microphone while playing some multiplayer titles with online friends, and they were always able to hear me. The flip-to-mute microphone is a helpful feature. There’s a volume control switch on the headset, but this only lets you manage the master volume, it doesn’t allow you to balance the chat/game audio.

In Conclusion

Whilst its features are limited, what you do get is great. The headset sounds fantastic, the earcups are comfortable, and the flip-to-mute microphone is very useful. At just £29.99, the Turtle Beach Recon 70 Wired Headset offers good value for money. I highly recommend this product as an entry-level gaming headset.
