It’s not too heavy, making it easy to carry around, yet it feels solid and well-built, exuding a sense of quality and durability.

When it comes to sound quality, the Boom 2 Plus truly shines. It delivers a powerful 140W sound that can fill any dance studio, whether we’re rehearsing indoors or performing outdoors. The ultra-deep 40Hz bass is something you can literally feel, adding depth and richness to our beats that’s hard to match. The sound is crisp and clear across all frequencies, ensuring an excellent listening experience. Whether we’re dancing to Bollywood, hip-hop, classical, or any other genre of music, the Boom 2 Plus handles it all with ease, providing a well-balanced and immersive sound experience that keeps our class attendees and Pro Dance Team moving.

Performance

For those who love outdoor dance sessions, the IPX7 waterproof rating is a game-changer. You don’t have to worry about rain or accidental splashes – the Boom 2 Plus can handle it. The IPX7 rating means it can be fully submerged for 30 minutes up to 1 metre. However, submerging it can affect sound quality, causing distortion. Battery life is another strong point of the Boom 2 Plus. With a 20-hour playtime, it can keep the music going through multiple dance classes and performances. However, it’s important to note that under high volume and heavy bass usage, the battery life might be slightly less than advertised. This is fairly common with portable speakers, but it’s something to be aware of if you’re planning on using it at maximum volume for extended periods.

Connecting to Bluetooth is straightforward and quick. While it uses Bluetooth 5.3 and can theoretically go up to 240 metres, factors like walls and obstacles can affect the connection quality. This means that while it’s great for use in open spaces, you might experience some connectivity issues if you move too far away or have multiple walls between your device and the speaker. The Soundcore app is a great addition, offering exceptional customisation options so you can tweak the sound and lighting effects to your liking. It’s user-friendly and provides a lot of control over the speaker’s features, enhancing the overall user experience.

Thoughts

However, there are a few downsides to consider. The speaker includes a USB-C charging cable but doesn’t come with a plug. This can be a minor inconvenience if you don’t already have a compatible charger. While USB-C is becoming more common, not including a plug feels like a cost-saving measure that slightly detracts from the overall package. Additionally, although the built-in power bank is a great feature for charging your phone on the go, it’s worth noting that using it for this purpose will reduce the overall playtime of the speaker. This could be an issue if you’re planning to use it for extended dance sessions without access to a power source.
