RIG 600 PRO HX – The Rapid Review
The RIG 600 PRO HX, from Nacon, is a multi-platform wireless gaming headset that promises comfort, versatility, and decent audio quality. It boasts a unique design, flexible connectivity features, and a focus on affordability. Let’s dive in to see if it lives up to the hype.
Design and Comfort
This gaming headset stands out with its modular design. The breathable fabric ear cups detach and snap onto the headband, providing a customisable and comfortable fit. This also makes the headset remarkably flexible and able to withstand an impressive amount of bending without breaking.
One of the headset’s significant strengths is its focus on comfort, achieved through an exceptionally lightweight design (240g) that makes it ideal for extended gaming sessions. The build quality leans heavily towards plastic.
While it contributes to the lightweight design, it does mean that other parts of the headset are not as durable as the headband itself.
Connectivity
The RIG 600 PRO HX shines in its connectivity. It includes a universal 2.4GHz wireless adapter compatible with Xbox, PC, Nintendo Switch and smartphones. Additionally, it features Bluetooth 5.1 for simultaneous connection to mobile devices.
This means that you can play games and listen to music or answer a phone call at the same time. The headset includes a 3.5mm cable for wired connectivity if preferred.
Sound Quality
With 40-mm headset drivers, the RIG 600 PRO HX delivers a balanced sound profile with plenty of bass out of the box. While not mind-blowing, it’s suitable for most gaming scenarios, and in games like Call of Duty, I could hear the footsteps of approaching enemies. You can use the Nacon app to create your own EQ customisation and choose from the standard sound presets, allowing you to tailor the sound to your liking.
The microphone isn’t the best that I’ve used. However, it is decent for in-game communication, and my teammates could hear me clearly. It also offers flip-to-mute functionality which is a helpful feature.
Battery Life
When fully charged, the RIG 600 PRO HX offers around 24 hours of battery life in Bluetooth mode and around 18 hours using the included USB-C wireless adapter after a single charge, which suits most gamers’ needs. The headset can be charged using the included USB-A to C cable and fully charges in a couple of hours.
Should You Buy It?
The RIG 600 PRO HX is a great option if you prioritise:
Comfort: Its lightweight design and flexible construction offer excellent comfort for long sessions.
Cross-platform Compatibility: The wireless and Bluetooth connectivity is ideal for multi-device gamers.
Value: It delivers a solid mix of features for a relatively affordable price.
However, consider these points:
Build Quality: The predominantly plastic construction might not inspire confidence in its long-term durability.
Sound: While the audio quality is good, it may not satisfy audiophiles seeking exceptional clarity and detail.
The Final Verdict
This is a good wireless gaming headset. Its comfort, connectivity options and decent sound make it good value for money. If those are your priorities and you can accept the slightly less premium build quality, the RIG 600 PRO HX is worth considering.
