KIWI Design Accessories Overview
As a dedicated Meta Quest 2 and now Meta Quest 3 user, comfort, protection, and extended gameplay are crucial for my overall satisfaction while gaming. KIWI Design has been one of my favourite companies to purchase Quest accessories from since owning my original Quest 1. Recently I purchased a Quest 3 headset and straight away its shortcomings became evident to me. First off, the stock head strap that comes with the Quest 3 is not great. It feels better and more comfortable than the Quest 2 head strap, but not by much.
The Quest 3 controllers remove the ring that both the Quest 1 and Quest 2 had. If you want to protect your controllers from grimy hands or incidental dings, you might want to cover them up. While there are many options out there on the market, the knuckle grip style controller covers from KIWI Design promise to add both comfort and protection.
Lastly, the Quest 3 battery leaves a bit to be desired. The improved quality of games demanding more horsepower, together with the new colour passthrough offered by the Quest 3, drains its battery quicker than ever. The increased battery drain is particularly notable in mixed reality experiences. I also noticed it when connecting with my MacBook Pro during the day in Meta’s Horizon Workroom application.
