Introduction
The Fifine Ampligame H9 Gaming Headset is a headset that can be used across all last and current-generation gaming platforms. You can use it for both online play with your friends or strangers or simply to enjoy your games without disturbing any family members or roommates that you have living with you.
For this review, I tested the headset on PS4, PS5, Xbox One S, Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch consoles. Not being a PC gamer, I did not test it with PC games, but did test it on my Chromebook for music purposes.
First and foremost, the Fifine Ampligame H9 Gaming Headset is one of the most comfortable headsets I’ve had the chance to use. Weighing in at 260g without the dongle (325g with the dongle) it feels light on your head and doesn’t feel like it’s crushing your ears against your skull, so to speak.
In terms of comfort, I felt a noticeable difference compared to the Turtle Beach Ear Force Retcon I’ve been using for a few years. On the Fifine Ampligame H9 gaming headset, the matt ear cups are soft on your ears and give the headset a very cushioned feel. This said, unfortunately, there’s some worry to be had about potential wear and tear to the cups. After a few years of usage, given the materials used, they may deteriorate.
Dongle Limits Usage
An important thing to note is that there’s two different ways to use the headset: using the dongle, or not. With or without it, the sound is clear and crisp with no noticeable issues. The main nuisance is that your options for sound customisation and control are limited without the dongle.
The dongle uses a USB connection, which console controllers themselves do not have. This means that, on consoles, you aren’t able to easily adjust the volume. The default volume varies from controller to controller, making it difficult to predict. For example, on PS4, the sound came off way too loud by default. Meanwhile, on Xbox Series X, the sound was a tad too low for my liking. This said, overall, the sound was clear and crisp with no white noise or distortion – crucial for the audio quality.
The microphone arm on the Fifine Ampligame H9 Gaming Headset is quite flexible. This helps to ensure that you don’t blow air directly into the receiver when talking with friends, other players or while streaming. When you’re done using the microphone – or if you simply want to enjoy the action with no obstructions – you can easily detach it. This means that it isn’t lingering in your face when not needed.
The overall appearance of the headset is fine up-close; very barebone and nothing too fancy. Given its affordable price, it makes sense. As aforementioned, the headset is pretty light, but it does feel sturdy enough to survive light accidental banging. The smiles on the side are a cute touch, but they don’t do anything for me personally. The headset could have been all black as far as I’m concerned.
Comfort At An Affordable Price
The Fifine Ampligame H9 Gaming Headset is one of the best and most comfortable headsets I’ve had the chance to use. It’s light (whether with or without the dongle), the sound is crisp and clear, and it brings the action to your ears with high-quality audio.
Unfortunately, as the dongle attachment is USB only, you may find that – if using the headset on a console – the sound will either be too low or too loud for your liking. This small detail aside, the Fifine Ampligame H9 Gaming Headset is one of the best investments you can make in terms of a gaming headset. It will prove especially good for online casual gamers, or if you’re trying to start off a a streaming career.
