Acer Predator Orion 3000

I have been fortunate enough to have been reviewing another Acer product, this time the Acer Predator Orion 3000. Read on for my Rapid Review.

The first thing that struck me about the Orion 3000 was how small and compact it was. I used to own a PC, by no means a gaming PC, and it was a lot bulkier than this. The Orion 3000 is a smart, compact gaming PC that will look great on any desk.

I loved the angled design of the case, and the blue lighting effects give the PC a futuristic look.

An addition I appreciated was the drop-down gaming headset holder. By no means a killer feature, but useful nonetheless.

For all the power this PC provides, I was pleasantly surprised at how relatively quiet it was. Even when playing games with the graphics at the highest settings, it didn’t sound like a plane taking off.

Ports and features

The Orion comes with a plethora of USB ports including; three USB 3.1 ports, a Type-C USB port on the front, USB 2.0 ports and an extra four USB 3.1 ports on the back. Video connections come in the form of HDMI and DVI ports and three DisplayPort connections. Gamers who like to have physical versions of games or films will be pleased to know that a DVD drive is available. I was glad to learn that the PC had built in 802.11ac Wi-Fi, as well as an Ethernet port.

Performance

The Predator Orion 3000 was able to play all the games in my extensive Steam including current titles such as Forza Horizon 4 and Call of Cthulhu. The model I had set the games at medium graphics which was more than satisfying to me. My review time with the PC coincided with my time with the ViewSonic XG3240C (read my review here!) and the ability to play my games in 4K was an absolute treat. Although I didn’t have the opportunity to test it, the PC comes VR ready.

Everyday Tasks

The computer booted very rapidly and as expected, I was able to complete all everyday tasks on this PC without any problems. More often than not, I had multiple programs open at the same time, and I didn’t notice any hangups or performance issues.

Conclusion

To sum up, the Predator Orion 3000 gaming PC looks fantastic and performs well. It has all the features that you would expect of a modern gaming PC, as well as some added extras like the gaming headset stand. While it doesn’t offer maximum gaming performance, it provides enough to satisfy a gamer’s needs. In conclusion, I would suggest that this PC would be for gaming enthusiastic and not a hardcore gamer.
