Optoma LH160 Portable Projector
Introduction
After reviewing the super impressive Optoma GT1080 gaming projector, I was keen to try another projector. This time, I was sent the Optoma LH160 Portable Projector.
What Optoma say
The LH160 is the brightest 1080p LED projector with built in battery. Designed as the ideal business tool for presentations on the go it features USB display from a mobile device,Bluetooth, HV keystone and four corner adjustment. You can also give wireless presentations from a mobile device using the free HDCast Pro app and optional wireless USB adapter.
High-quality LED illumination provides increased efficiency to maintain consistent brightness, superior colour performance, instant on/off and an extraordinary life span.
Enjoy up to 2.5 hours of projection time with the built in battery. Perfect for a business meeting on the go or outdoor use where no power source is available.
Add more depth to your image with a high contrast projector. Compared to competing technology, Optoma DLP projectors provide you with brighter whites and ultra-rich blacks, images come alive and text appears crisp and clear – ideal for business and education applications.
A built-in speaker offers excellent audio support and an easy setup without the need for costly external speakers.
There may be instances when the projector is left running when not in use. To help save energy, the “auto power off” feature automatically turns off the projector after a set period of time if it is not being used.
The projector will start up instantly when power is supplied to the unit. This eliminates the need to manually turn on the projector via the remote control or the keypad, ideal for use in rooms with a “master” power switch.
Power off your projector immediately or directly at the mains. This means you don’t have to wait for the projector to cool down before turning it off.
Conveniently connect to a Bluetooth™ speaker or headphones wirelessly.
Product Design
The first thing that will strike you about this projector is just how small and light it is. The projector itself looks very smart and has a nice kickstand which is attached to the bottom of the projector.
Setup
The LH160 was simple to set up. Plug in the AC adapter, pop out the kickstand and open the lens cap, and you’re good to go. You can connect your mobile phone directly to the projector via the free HDCast Pro app. Once connected, you can select files or photos to display, use your camera to show a live image, you are also able to mirror whatever’s on the phone screen. This can be useful when streaming media.
Audio
For such a small projector, I was more than happy with the sound that the internal speakers produced. However, the ability to pair with a set of Bluetooth speakers was very welcome and made for a more immersive experience when watching live TV or movies.
Picture
The Optoma LH160 projects a crisp, full HD 1080p picture. This projector would be perfect for giving presentations or watching movies in different places. For example, you could bring it to a friend’s house for a movie night or play games on a bigger screen. Another use for the projector would be to take it on a family holiday.
Power
One of the bonuses of this projector is the fact that it comes with a built-in rechargeable battery. This will give you around 2.5 hours of power on the go.
Issues?
The only slight issue I had was with the AC adapter lead. It’s quite short, and so I found trying to position it in the correct place, while plugged in, a little tricky. However, this problem is negated when using the internal battery.
Conclusion
The LH160 is a highly portable, HD projector. It provides a good quality picture, clear sound, as well as a pleasing number of connectivity options. If portability is essential to you, then this projector will more than do the job.
