Our game picks up Foxy living his best life with his wife and two kids just looking for some cherries. Very quickly things take a turn for the worse and the evil wolf brothers kidnap your kids. Now your adventure begins as you travel across the world trying to rescue your pups.

This is a basic 2D side scroller where you will explore 3 different world types, forest, desert and mushroom. The pixel art design is colourful and playful, which fits with the gameplay. There is a cheerful background tune that plays throughout that won’t get you hyped but equally isn’t annoying. You have the option to play co-op but not too sure why you would to be honest.

The gameplay is certainly on the simple side. Press X to jump, press X twice to double jump and move around with the left stick or D Pad. Tutorial done. For those who might have played FoxyLand then cherries are still around in this sequel but this time as a throwable item to hit enemies with. You are now ready to play. 

The biggest change from the previous game is you don’t have 3 hearts for health anymore, instead, it is one hit and you die. Which certainly adds a bit more tension to each level alongside a bit of frustration when you die from a silly mistake, while will happen. The game does offer the option to continue your game once you run out of life’s so you never really lose anything. 

Each level has small gold coins you can collect, with each 25 collected granting you an extra life once you complete the level. There are also larger gold coins in each level, 3 to be exact, to collect. Some are very much in your face and easy to collect.

Others are hidden in secret parts of the level that I struggled to find throughout the game. There were never really any clear hints where to look for these so you would just have to guess and risk it. They are normally in a tricky spot where a miss-timed jump could see game over for you. 

You don’t have to collect these coins to complete the level, which means you can fly through most quickly. However, you will get to points in the map where the next level is locked behind a set number of coins. You can easily go back to levels and replay them to look for coins so easy to overcome. 

At the end of each zone, you will face a boss battle with one of the wolf brothers. The battles are not too difficult and add a slight challenge, but the one hit mechanic frustration will peak during these battles. Miss time one action and you will find yourself back at the beginning of the boss fight and wondering what you ever did to deserve this.

Game length is looking at a couple of hours at most depending on how successful you are at finding the big coins. Not much need to reply the game either so it is likely a once through sort of game for most. You also don’t need to complete the game to get the Platinum trophy, yes, this game has a platinum! The trophies will come naturally as well so no need to do anything silly, that is unless you are good and never die.
