The first rapid review I’m going to do is for Captain Toad:  Treasure Tracker.

Captain Toad:  Treasure Tracker is a puzzle, strategy game based in the familiar Super Mario Universe.

Looks and sounds

The game, which is published by Nintendo, unsurprisingly, looks and sounds, stunning.  It has a happy, friendly soundtrack and the audio is fun.  The graphics are sharp and colourful and looks beautiful on the Switch’s 6.2-inch, 1280 x 720 display.  Many of the well-known characters from the Super Mario World universe can be found.

Gameplay and replayability

It only took me about 10 minutes to realise that this is a fun, rewarding game with enough of a challenge to keep me coming back for more.  You can play the game using the touch screen or if you’re playing it via the dock, you can use the Joy-Cons.  I personally prefer to play it in handheld mode.  This game can also be played in 2-player mode.

Each level requires a different approach, you can rotate the camera, zoom in and out, and press various parts of the level.  With the touch of a finger or press of ZR, you can move, raise or lower parts of the map.

Also, each level has three diamonds and some have hidden golden mushrooms.  Other maps have extra challenges that you need to complete for 100% completion.  Upon completion, you get a level summary page.

Replayability is a huge factor in any game that I play and this game has it in spades.  Every level provides a different challenge and takes some thought as to how to reach the golden star.

Conclusion

An extremely fun game which is great value for money.  It is accessible to all people and offers enough challenge to keep you coming back for more.
